Turtles

Imagine tens of hundreds of thousands of turtles somewhere, moving.

SnowWhiteWatch

SnowWhiteWatch is a collaboration between choreographer Lorenzo Borella and Frederik Rombach. The design and building of this glass house was conceived as a project that would never be finished. Instead the glass panels, flatfused secondhand wine bottles, and a freeform steel frame would be a starting point. The collaboration has to do with movement, light, symbolism and craftsmanship.

Currently the project has been set up a pilot project in the Burgers Zoo, as  a part of the Sprookjesfestival (fairy tale festival).
In 2010 the project is being set up to travel to a number of festivals as a location project, glass, steel and dance, an interactive project that like most houses in this world, is never really finished...

Why we wait

Why we wait is a project in glass made by people, depicting people. Each step in the process of giving this project form, is easily communicable. This is why everbody can do it. Each person that works and learns in this project is part of a craft, and has a part in the design of the whole. Each symbolic form is a person, how they connect, what they express, is all in the hand of that one person, at that one time.

The realized product, a 5 meter long display has been incorperated into the facade of a bar in Arnhem, NL; cafe Barok, on the Zwanenstraat 4.

Signs #1

An exit sign in a hallway that may save your life. Made for this purpose, but do we really look at this sign? Do we really look at the signs around us at all? "signs" try to show us with humour and style, that we don't always pay attention to the most obvious things.

The green sign has had a place in a shop, in a house and is now hanging at the new information center for architecture, urbanism and design:
casa+gang+opa

Signs is for RENT: Prices vary according to situation, duration, and amount. For more information, info@rombachs.nl

Lightposts

These lampposts give a landscape form and direction.

During the day normal lampposts have no function, These lampposts do. At night these lampposts are different. They are hardly there.
During the day the lamposts are there as a small filter through which one can see the landscape, the sky.

I would like to make lightposts in a landscape, and would like public to be able to see and enjoy it.The realization of lightposts, in colour and texture, as well the amount of lightposts, depends entirely on the context in which it is set.
